Year of the Dog Fancy Fold Card

I spent some rare time crafting with my daughter recently. I was struggling with my mojo and told her I wanted to make some Chinese new year projects. I had taken out some stamps I thought would work well and while I sat starring at my blank grid paper she happily stamped and coloured away and then revealed her finished project.

She wasn’t happy as she smudged it a bit at the end, we had already had a really long day. I really love it and it really got my mojo flowing. That’s how I ended up with so many Chinese new year projects this week. Lol

This is my daughters version:

I loved her colour choices and all the extra details she added. She wouldn’t tell me what she was doing so had a doh moment when I showed her a few stamps and dies she could have used. Bless her. Lol

For mine I wanted to have a dog party with it being the year of the dog. I found all the dog stamps I had and kept it all flat although afterwards I wished I had added some dimension to it as it felt a bit too flat. I did love how it all came together and looks like a fun party scene.

I stamped the dogs using our smokey slate ink as as I didn’t want the harshness of the black, although I think the black would have made the dogs pop a bit more. I coloured them using our Stampin’ Blends. (Have I mentioned that I love them). I love that you can use any of the SU pads (with the exception of the archival basic gray and basic black) if you want a different effect with your stampin’ and the stampin’ markers will work to. I used my basic black marker just to go over the eyes and noses.

I love fancy fold cards and this all folds flat to fit in a standard C6 envelope which is great for postage too. Only problem with trying to show this in a photo is it kept popping open so I had to add a clip to hold it down. I will not be defeated. Lol
