This month we have very exciting news that we have the famous Pootles – Sam Hammond Donald and her lovely team playing along with us! All the way from the UK. We are thrilled that they said yes to playing along with the Crazy Crafters this month as Sam is VERY talented and has a following all around the world. Thanks Sam and her team. x
Sam was invited to choose the theme and boy did she challenge us. Our theme was One. We were only allowed to use one DSP pack, One coloured ink, one punch or die set and one stamp set. Sounds easy but when you have so much choice of great stamps and colours to choose from its not so easy. Believe me, but after lots of frustration, piles of scrap card and many a bad word I finally came up with a creation that I could be proud of. Sam’s reason for this difficult challenge was so that we could inspire other crafters especially newbies that you can get lots of fabulous creations from just a few items from your stash or starter kit if you choose wisely.
My favourite suite in the Spring/Summer catalogue has to be the It’s my party range, So when pre-order time came it was top of my list. The 12×12 DSP stack is huge and would be great for all party decorations as there’s loads of different designs in the pack.
I love cards that do something, weather its pop up, swing or slide and as My daughter is turning 13 this week its celebration week. Although she wouldn’t let me throw her a party I got to have one in the card instead. Were big cake eaters in our family so the sentiments from the Party Wishes stamp set was spot on, and the cake in the stamp set helped with the inspiration, my daughter wants a 3 tier birthday cake so i decided to make my own cake using the it’s my party washi tape. (Washi tape is a first for me, never used it before this project but i’ll definitely be using it in the future). I just laid 3 layers of the tape on to some whisper white and then cut the layers by eye, the same with the cake stand and of course I had to match the candle with the cake stand so it all co-ordinated nicely. However next time I will use the candle punch from the party punch pack as cutting the little candle was really fiddly. The DSP pack has a bigger version of the design I used on the cake so I used that as a background to set the party and keep with the theme. Some confetti background DSP on the floor to show it was a great party. if i could have used more punches I would have decorated the table with some cupcakes and trays but i was limited so i hid the empty table behind some balloons. Every birthday has to have a banner and the Happy Birthday from the party wishes was perfect for that, I cut a few balloons from the left over dsp page to give the banner some colour and added a crushed curry mat layer to help it pop up.
For the front of the card I used one stamp spread over 3 balloons that I punched out of whisper white and inked with crushed curry and a little bit of gold cord for the balloon tails. I used another sheet of the dsp pack with candles and matted it onto some crushed curry cardstock to help it pop out and some more confetti dsp to bring the front into the inside. I wanted to keep the front simple to show off the surprise inside.
