Our Second challenge was to create a card following this sketch…any theme, any colour! This weeks sketch was designed by Amy Frasier who is celebrating her birthday this week so be sure to leave a birthday message on her blog when you reach it.

Ok, Now for me this was a struggle, (Thanks Amy, lol) wonky angles and me don’t really mixed on cards or (any project really). I think its one of those things that some crafter really struggle with and others do with ease. So after the horror of the sketch passed I took a long look at the sketch and had an idea of doing a pollard snap with the Snow Place, my favourite stamp set. Then I battled the backgrounds and tried several different combinations until I came back to my original designs just with a different ribbon.

week2-5 2

As it was a photo inspired card I found the Oh what fun stamp set worked perfectly. I used the Oh, What Fun sentiment on the photo and the Happy Christmas sentiment from the set to create the background on the card and the sentiment for the inside. I kept the inside simple so I could write in it but i added a few layers of cardstock to help balance the card and stop it from falling over. I also used the Merry Christmas from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments as it was the perfect size for the mini photo.

week2-6 2

One thing i wasn’t pleased with was my add of glitter, I used the Dazzling Details on the hat and scarf but it caused the ink to bleed and go an orangy colour which was a bit disappointing but you learn as you go in the crafting world, so next time I will used the Heat and Stick with the Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter. But Overall i’m please with how it all turned out and for finding another fun way of using the Snow Place Stamp set, and being able to have a modern twist on the traditional Red and Green Christmas colours.

Hope you like my creation and please do continue the Blog Hop by using the buttons below. I was amazed how everyone had such different variations on the sketch last time, and all the project were so good that i’m excite to see what everyone has come up with this time. Be sure to pop back in 2 weeks as were doing creations from my sketch so i’m really looking forward to what everyones take on it is and the fabulous creations they make.
